Novasource's robotics arm (formerly part of SunPower's O&M business, and Greenbotics before that) developed and operated solar panel-cleaning robots until 2023.
Over three summers, I worked across a range of roles supporting the operations and development of autonomous solar cleaning robots deployed at utility-scale PV sites across the western US.
highlights
- →Heads-up maintenance: robots flowed through my workbenches due to hardware failures, software bugs, and electrical issues
- →Robot validation: after any fix or change, 10 cycles on test panels confirmed functionality
- →Solar site scouting: assessed viability of new contracts by evaluating panel layout and array dimensions on-site
- →Support systems: helped revise, develop, and assemble field support rigs (water, power) later mounted on trucks
